Work alongside your agent in the report you have open. The canvas updates. Your unsaved work stays.
Works with MCP clients
Changes land on the canvas as your agent works. Your own edits stay untouched.
Styled components from the first visual. Customize it, and every new visual follows.
Your agent writes the DAX measure, then builds the visual that uses it.
Live
Hand and agent edits, in the same open report. Your agent picks up where you left off, saved or not.
Group visuals into a card with a title, border and padding. Move it as one. No stacking shapes by hand.
Ask for a toggle or a detail page. Your agent saves bookmarks, builds the detail page and wires up the buttons.
One selection filters the whole report. No ticking boxes in the sync slicers pane.
Design system
Every report starts on Ploten’s design system, or on a style you saved for a client.
Your design is saved as brand.json, next to Ploten.pbip.
Blocks, styled slicers, buttons, and more. Ask for what you need. Your agent adds it in your style.
Built on the Radix color scale. Say blue-9 or gray-4, and you get that exact shade. No hex codes.
Set each client’s colors, fonts and spacing once. Their next report starts in their style.
Modeling
No pasting table names or relationships into a chat. Your agent reads your open Power BI model.
Switch metrics without the setup. Your agent creates the parameter table, adds the slicer and connects it to your chart.
Your agent sets up the calendar and measures for YTD and year-over-year. No copying formulas or fixing field names.
Microsoft’s Power BI Authoring MCP edits the model, with modeling skills to steer it. Ploten’s report engine edits the visuals and formatting. Every new measure or column is in the model before a visual uses it.
See what depends on a measure before you change it. Ploten lists the visuals and measures that use it.
Same total on every row? Ploten checks whether your relationships are filtering the data.
No pasting DAX into Power BI just to find an error. Ploten checks each formula before applying it.

FAQ
Power BI Desktop with your report saved as a Power BI project (PBIP), and an AI agent such as Claude Code, Cursor or Codex. On a Mac, you’d need to run Power BI Desktop in a Windows VM, such as Parallels.
No. Ploten connects your own agent to Power BI Desktop. You pay for the agent separately, through your own account.
For now, Ploten works with Power BI projects (PBIP). If your report is a .pbix file, save it as a project in Power BI Desktop first. Ploten then connects to the report you have open.
Yes, and you don’t need to save first. Your agent edits the report you have open, so it builds on your unsaved changes instead of reloading over them.
Your agent sends what it reads to its AI provider, including data values and screenshots, and that provider’s terms apply. Ploten runs on your machine and never sends your report to us.
Only for model changes, such as measures and relationships. You can skip it, and your agent still edits pages, visuals and formatting. It’s Microsoft’s software, under Microsoft’s own terms.
